Resolutions...

OK, so I know that personally, I have only made true resolutions about 6 years out of my 33, so I am not going to talk about this subject like a guru.  I am however, going to offer hope.  In studies of new year's resolutions versus goals made throughout the year, people are about 10 times more likely (4%, vs 45%) to still be following a New Year's Resolution in six months.  It's less than half overall, but a big change can start now.  The keys are making it a manageable, specific goal, and just one.  So spend a couple of minutes in reflection before this New Year and think about what you want.

Want a better family?  The adage of quality vs. quantity is not quite true, it's more about the quality OF your quantity.  Play games in the car together, read something fun or uplifting to start each day.  Invest the time and your family strength can and will improve.

Want to be healthier?  Choose what you can invest the effort to change.  Exercise 5 times a week, change one snack daily to a veggie, healthy body habits, or cutting back on soda.  Exercising 5 times a week may sounds daunting, but it's effective.  Try to get in 10 minutes in a row and aim for 30-60 each workout day.  Snacks are an easy change, and statistics show that as you eat healthier regularly your body craves more of the good stuff, so snacks may lead to changes in your meals.  Massage is a great way to help your body stay healthy, but you probably knew I'd say that.  Check out my website for all the benefits.  There are other things to consider too, are you getting enough sleep, water, nutrients, flexibility, strength?  If not, those are great goals to set.  Are you drinking 2 sodas a day (that's 24oz for those that buy fountain drinks)?  Cut back to one soda every other day and save 22 pounds in a year.  Think that diet soda is the answer?  Check out this link.

Want more success?  First you have to define clearly what success is for you.  Is it more clients, more money, long term security, or finishing something?  Once you've found it, you can create your goal!

So.... I'll let you know tomorrow what my resolution is, but for now, what are yours?

What's coming

Ok, so I won't promise to post daily, but I will do my best.  This is my "A Year of Health" blog.  I want to share the many ideas and hints I have learned through my years as a massage therapist, and I want to learn new things from everyone else!  I also want to get to know your stories.  People are AMAZiNG!  There spirits, their bodies, there attitudes.  I want to share what I have learned about the importance of what you give yourself, and what comes back.  So here's my proposed calendar.  If you see anything you'd like sooner, or if I've left something out, email me!  I promise to read every e-mail!  It's almost New Year's, read about resolutions tomorrow, and BE READY!!  Watch this blog too, I will post links to some of my favorite products that I use for my clients, and I will be haveing a few give-aways!  (Live in Fort Worth, TX?  Check out my website, and come by for a massage, I will also give away a couple of service certificates in the coming year.)
